CYANOTYPE, COFFEE TONED, OVERCOLOURED
1 Item Items
In this monotype handmade edition, the amazing glass roof of a railway station is presented in a coffee toned Cyanotype, printed on watercolour paper and completed with drawing pencils.
The process begins with the Cyanotype emulsion applied on the watercolour paper. The print is then exposed to sunlight and finally developed in water. Once fully developed, the print needs to rest in a bath of tannin for one to two days. There, the classic light blue Cyanotype tones will gradually give way to rich blue-black tones, which depending on the subject add depth and character to the print.
The final image will be over-coloured so the paper needs to go through one more bath. This is an "etching" one, where excess surface colour is carefully removed making sure the image detail remains intact. Once this step is completed the print is ready for colouring.
In this edition, the print was over-coloured using drawing pencils.
Note: Colours on your screen may vary slightly from the actual colors of the print.
